When I see my daughters, I see souls, not just little cute people God has blessed us with.
I understand that they are living breathing souls that will have to choose to follow Jesus one day. As parents we can’t obligate them to choose Jesus, it breaks my heart because how much EASIER would it be to nag them till they accepted him? Because we KNOW its beautiful and it’s so worth knowing Jesus. We know as Christian parents that he is the only way to salvation. Sometimes we parents want our children to know Jesus so bad, that we can get in the way of God by playing The Holy Spirit. We need wisdom.
Salvation is personal and your children aren’t automatically saved just because you are.
But I have good news friends, God in his infinite wisdom left us a HELPER, The Holy Spirit who teaches us to raise our children.
God asks us to raise them UP when they are just tiny little bundles so when they grow up they do not depart. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. He reminds us to teach them day and night, Deuteronomy 6:7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise, he offers us wisdom if we ask for it. He continually tells us parents to be the light and to discipline our children. Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. Proverbs 23:13 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die.
Scripture was inspired by The Holy Spirit himself and it tells us what we need to raise children for God’s glory. In scripture you will also find many people who, though they were great men of God they didn’t discipline their children and their children were killed and never turned to God.
God is so amazing that he left us SCRIPTURE to know how to raise our children in light of eternity.
Us mothers should know our bible, we should be fighting in prayer for our children, and we should be waking examples of Gods salvation in us.
Ask The Holy Spirit to guide you in ALL things as a parent. Don’t rely on your own understanding and beg the Lord for wisdom. Ask The Holy Spirit to touch your child’s life at a young age, that your children may repent quickly when they stumble. Ask our father in heaven to have mercy and forgive your children, to help you show grace the way he has shown it to you. Ask the Lord friends, for the opportunities to teach your children Jesus in a way they will always remember. Ask the Lord to show you when you’re playing the Holy Spirit and getting in his way. Friends, there’s no greater joy then to now our children walk in the truth and WE can be part of that reality.
Your children are souls that will stand before the Lord one day, let us be sacrificial in what we do for the growth of our children. Let us be examples, let us raise our children on our knees, I leave you with this beautiful verse that gives hope:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Friends this is real, your children need a savior and you can’t make them choose Jesus but thanks to God we can teach them and be part of Gods plan in our children’s salvation as a vessel. Thank you Jesus for this opportunity to have little disciples.
